Hi all, I’m having trouble with the slider and product images.
For some reason, I don’t see any images.
I have followed the instructions, I can see the actions of the slider and placeholders for any new products I create, but cannot for the life in me get the images to appear.
I’m hoping it’s something really simple but I’m stumped!! I can see the 01 and 02 images in the media dir, I have also placed a copy of the media dir within root, tried disabling and clearing the cache. Please can anyone help?!?
Recently I uploaded one of my projects which I was working on my local computer into a clients Godaddy Hosting Server.
Everything went good with the transfer site got running with minor tweaks in .htaccess files and php.ini file tweaks suggested in the .htaccess file of Magento root directory.
But after this I noticed that None of my product images are displaying as it should both in admin backend and on frontend of website. When i tried visiting the image path e.g.,http://yourdomain.com/magento/media/images/product1.jpg it returned a 404 Not Found Error for all product images although the images are on the correct location and provided correct path.
I surfed many help sites with many of the suggestions and tried everything but that was not working for me and finally after a lot of hectic trials i got the solution for it.
Just Rename your .htaccess file inside the /media directory to .htaccess-old. This will absolutely resolve your image issue.
I hope this will help many of you and you will not have to surf plenty of sites for such an issue.
Make sure you’re changing the right .htaccess file. I see there are more than one, but I’m new at this gig (can’t afford a web developer these days!).
If you’re having trouble with the slider going out of position, I used this code in the the slider static block which differs slightly from the one in the Hello instructions. I saw it posted on the hellothemes forum.
I use Filezilla (free download), so don’t need access to the C Panel for this. Once you have Magento installed on your server, just use Filezilla to get to it and then click on the “media” folder and you’ll see other folders within this one, plus a file at the bottom called .htaccess. Click on that so you can just add “-old” to it.
