Am having the same issues in IE9. I have tried the Alan Storm fix and many others to try and force compatibility view in IE9. All without success. If I just manually hit the compatibility view button, then it works fine, but none of the methods to force it work.
I think that this really needs a fix within the template - just forcing compatibility view (even if it did work for me) is not an option.
