Fix for “customer login” and “update cart quantity” in Magento 1.8.1.

Magento 1.8.1.0 Bug

After last upgrade of Magento, a lot of users report bugs about validation of forms in Magento 1.8.1 CE. This bugs may cause an issue with the update of quantity products on the shopping cart and the login of customers in the frontend of your site.

Customer Login Fix

Go to yourtemplate/template/persistent/customer/form/login.phtml and under

add the following code in the login form

 

Update shopping cart quantity

Go to yourtemplate/template/checkout/cart.phtml and under

add the following code inside the <form> field

Hope it helps you guys! We’re working for include this fixs on all our themes to improve the compatibility with Magento 1.8.1

    At helloResponsive CE i cannot find the first line of code at login.phtml

    The second part with the cart.phtml does worked fine!

      Hi @renfrst:disqus, not sure if you managed to fix your issue. What I did was to copy the login.phtml from the Base Template Files (not the theme files) copied the base file to my template file, and then modify the code from there. That fixed the Customer Login Loop for me.

    Awesome! Helped me understand a relatively unknown issue within our responsive template. In my situation, our login template was correctly registering ‘formkey’, but the cart template was not, so here’s what I added to the cart to get me up and running:

    getBlockHtml(‘formkey’) ?>
