Engage your existing customers in Magento – Sweet Tooth interview

Sweet Tooth Points & Rewards Loyalty Extension | Sweet Tooth - Customer Loyalty & Rewards for Magento

In the retail industry, it seems as though we are constantly faced with the issue of trying to find new customers. Most of us are obsessed with making sure our advertising, displays, and pricing all “scream out” to attract new customers. This focus on pursuing new customers is certainly prudent and necessary, but, at the same time, it can wind up hurting us. Therefore, our focus really should be on the 20 percent of our clients who currently are our best customers. Sweet Tooth is a turn-key points and rewards app for your Magento eCommerce store. As Magento’s most flexible rewards system, Sweet Tooth allows you to offer a unique rewards program to keep your customers happy.

The guys of Sweet Tooth kindly agreed  to answer some questions:

  • How did you know Magento?

We started dealing with Magento when it was still in Beta stage. We instantly fell in love with its flexibility and extendibility.

  • Why do you choose Magento, which features have you engaged?

Not only do we have a extensions on Magento, but we also sell our extensions using Magento too! All of our extension’s sites are using one Magento instance: www.sweettoothrewards.com, www.betterstoresearch.com, www.spearmint.io, & www.betterstorecms.com! Magento makes managing our extensions very easy for us.

  • Tell us about the difficulties and challenges you’ve had to overcome.

The largest difficulty we’ve had to overcome is to get merchants thinking about keeping their customers loyal, rather than just acquiring new customers. A lot of merchants focus only on getting new customers, rather than using their existing customers to help drive sales. There is too much focus on SEO, Paid Search (like Adwords), and affiliate systems, yet not enough focus on keeping your existing customers happy and returning.

  • How has working with Magento influenced your business and / or professional activity?

Magento is at the core of our business; we couldn’t do exist without it. The community is so amazing and vibrant, it makes working with Magento very enjoyable.

  • Is Magento popular in your country?

Magento is gaining popularity in Canada. eCommerce in Canada is a bit behind when compared to markets like the US & UK, but it is gaining popularity and I think Magento is helping with that.

  • Tell us about Sweet tooth. How did this occur to you? When did you start?

We used to do custom development, and saw that our Magento merchants all had one common problem: they needed help keeping their customers coming back, and staying loyal. Three years ago we created Sweet Tooth to solve this problem. It has done so well that it is our primary focus now!

  • Do you think Magento has enhanced the online sales and distribution in your country?

Absolutely. It is a perfect blend of ease of use and functionality. For most merchants, Magento is a very suitable choice.

  • Which are your favourite extensions?

#1 Sweet Tooth – a loyalty program for Magento, where you can give customers points for buying, and for actions such as Facebook Liking – www.sweettoothrewards.com
#2 Spearmint – a very useful app that shows the most important metrics that a Magento merchant needs to know in order to run a successful business – www.spearmint.io
#3 Better Store Search – a great app to improve Magento’s native search functionality – www.betterstoresearch.com
#4 Better Store CMS – since I use Magento’s CMS, this is SO useful. It turns Magento’s WYSIWYG editor into a more useful code editor with revision history – www.betterstorecms.com

  • What is your favourite theme by HelloThemes?

Hello Responsive EE

  • Anything else that you’d like to add?

We just launched a new product, Spearmint.io, that has a free 14 day trial with no credit card required. This product shows the most important metrics that you, as an eCommerce merchant, should know. I think that every merchant should know these metrics if they want to run their business effectively.

That’s it!

We hope you enjoyed this new interview and we’d love to hear your thoughts, drop your comment!
